von + Dative:

Der Autor von dem Buch ist ein berühmter Schriftsteller.

When the noun attributing possession or ownership is plural and indefinite, meaning it has no article or adjective, it cannot take the genitive. In this case, we use von + dative.

Noun with article: genitive

Das sind die Mikrofone der Tonassistenten. (A specific group of sound engineers is being referred to.)

but:

Noun without article: von + dative

Das sind die Mikrofone von Tonassistenten. (Some unidentified sound engineers are being referred to.)
