IN A FIELD

NARRATOR:
Harry is by no means the sporty type. But if he's got the feeling that his old enemy Dr. 
Anderson is after him again, he can get up quite a speed.

HARRY:

NARRATOR:

NARRATOR: 
… on his farm.

HARRY:

NARRATOR: 
That must be the farmer.

HARRY:
Sind Sie der Bauer?

FARMER:
Ja, ich bin der Bauer. Und wer sind Sie? Was machen Sie hier?

HARRY:
Ich heiße Harry Walkott und ich mache hier … Ferien… Urlaub.

NARRATOR:

HARRY:

IN THE BARN

HARRY:

FARMER:

HARRY:  
His cows ... Was machen Sie da?

FARMER:
Ich melke die Kühe! 

HARRY:
Mit einer Maschine? 

NARRATOR:

FARMER:

HARRY:
Ja? Fascinating … a machine with which you can milk cows.

NARRATOR: 
Ja, das ist eine Maschine, mit der er die Kühe melkt. In a sentence with a relative clause, the preposition – in this case it's mit – always goes before the relative pronoun. 

HARRY:
Ja?

FARMER:
Hallo, Elsa, wie geht's dir heute? Alles klar? 

HARRY:
Does the cow have a name? Hat die Kuh einen Namen?

FARMER:
Ja, das ist Elsa. Elsa ist die Kuh, mit der ich gern rede.

NARRATOR: 
Harry, he's nuts, he talks to his cow.

HARRY:
So what? I've got an animal I talk to … Ich habe einen Pinguin. Mit dem Pinguin rede ich gern. 

NARRATOR: 
It's more elegant if you join the two sentences together: Ich habe einen Pinguin - Komma - mit dem ich gerne rede.  And the verb goes at the end. 

HARRY:
Haben Sie noch ein anderes Tier, mit dem Sie reden?

FARMER:
Ja, ein Pferd.

NARRATOR: 
Oh dear, not a horse whisperer.

HARRY:
Where is the horse? I mean … Wo ist das Pferd, mit dem Sie reden?

FARMER:
Interessiert Sie das?

HARRY:
Ja. I'm very interested.

FARMER:
Gut, ich zeige Ihnen meine Tiere.

ON THE FARM     

FARMER:
Hallo, Hugo! Das ist Hugo, das Schwein. Da hinten sind noch drei Schafe.

HARRY:

FARMER:
