The daughter of hotel owner Strobel tries to get Harry excited about the many leisure and sports activities in the Black Forest. There are 24,000 kilometers of marked hiking trails, plus excellent conditions for cyclists with guided tours and special mountain bike hotels for people traveling on two wheels. If you need a change of pace, you'll also find golf courses, rock climbing and ropes courses.

There are also opportunities for winter sports in the Black Forest – downhill and cross-country skiing, tobogganing, snowshoeing or even ski jumping. The Hochfirstschanze, Germany's largest natural ski jump hill, regularly hosts international ski jumping competitions. Several Olympic ski jumping champions come from the Black Forest, including Dieter Thoma and Martin Schmitt. A somewhat unusual sport that also takes place in the Black Forest is dog sled racing. Every year, mushers from different European countries gather in the Black Forest with their huskies to participate in the international dog sled race. Despite the variety of sporting activities in the Black Forest, Harry has little interest in them. He prefers to read newspapers in the hotel. After all, he does not like to exercise.
