The Black Forest is a mountainous region in Germany and a very popular holiday destination. It’s no surprise that Harry and Julia chose to go there on vacation. The Black Forest is located in southwestern Germany, close to the borders with France and Switzerland. It is bordered by the Rhine and Neckar rivers and spans an area larger than the island of Jamaica.
The name “Schwarzwald” may sound dark and eerie, but don’t let it fool you. The term comes from the large, dense coniferous forests that give it that ominous impression from far. But actually, on average, the sun shines more in some parts of the Black Forest region than in many other places in Germany. Sometimes, however, heavy storms rage throughout the region with menacing thunder and dangerous lightning.
