Twice a year the clocks are changed by one hour. On the last Sunday in March, the clock is set ahead from 2 to 3 in the morning. This is summer daylight savings time. On the last Sunday in October, the clock is set back an hour.

Why do we do this? Originally, people hoped to be able to make the most of more daylight and use less electricity. But according to the national environment department, it doesn't actually work. Lights are turned on later in the evenings, but heating is turned up in the mornings.
