Three Years Since Coup Ousted Thaksin

18/09/09September 18, 2009

Saturday marks the third anniversary of the military coup in Thailand that deposed former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Supporters of Thaksin, who is now living in exile, say they intend to organise a large demonstration. Ahead of the anniversary, the country's army chief once again promised that there would not be a new coup. Most political observers believe him, given the strong clout the army enjoys behind the scenes.
