Harry zu Besuch bei Dr. Anderson

Harry visits Dr. Anderson

Script

IN ANDERSON'S HOUSE

NARRATOR:
It's been a tough day for Harry. Helen has been murdered, and his enemy Dr. Anderson, might be an ally. Quite a lot to take in all at once for our reluctant tourist through Germany. So the glass of wine which Dr. Anderson is pouring him right now is especially welcome.

ANDERSON:
Willkommen in meinem bescheidenen Heim. Ich hoffe, dass der Wein Ihnen schmeckt.

HARRY:
Silvaner!

ANDERSON:
Ja …

HARRY:
Aus …

ANDERSON:
Aus der Pfalz!

HARRY:
Oh, vielen Dank!

NARRATOR:
Die Pfalz, the palatinate, is a region in southern Germany which is a well-known wine-growing area - die Weinregion.

HARRY:
As if I'd care what sort of wine it is. Lecker, ein sehr guter Wein! Sie haben ein schönes Haus!

ANDERSON:
Es freut mich, dass es Ihnen gefällt.

NARRATOR:
Harry! We're not here so that you can pay Anderson compliments. We're trying to find out something about Helen's death.

HARRY:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, don't be so pushy. You have to be subtle about such things. I’m the detective! Hey! What's the word for 'observe'?

NARRATOR:
beobachten

HARRY:
Dr. Anderson, warum haben Sie Helen beobachtet?

ANDERSON:

HARRY:
The cause of the time warp? That's what I want to know too.

ANDERSON:

NARRATOR:
Interesting - you have a problem with your brain, Harry.

HARRY:
Hey, hang on!

ANDERSON:
Deshalb beobachte ich alle Patienten. Ich beobachte auch Sie, Herr Walkott.

HARRY:
Sie beobachten mich? Warum?

ANDERSON:
Die Zeitschleife ist eine Krankheit.

NARRATOR:
The time warp is a disease?

ANDERSON:

NARRATOR:
He wants to heal the disease.

HARRY:
What does that mean? Was heißt das?

ANDERSON:
Frei!

HARRY:
Then we'll all be free?

ANDERSON:
Ja!

HARRY:
Helen nicht. Sie ist tot! Dead, murdered.

ANDERSON:
Möglicherweise hat Anna Helen ermordet.

HARRY:
Possibly?

ANDERSON:
Ja, wahrscheinlich.

NARRATOR:
First it was possible, now it's likely? And after another glass of wine, I guess it'll be a fact.

ANDERSON:
Ich habe Anna beobachtet. Sie ist Polizistin und hat eine Pistole.

HARRY:
Every police officer has a pistol. So what? Na und?

ANDERSON:
Herr Walkott, die Waffe des Mörders war eine Pistole.

NARRATOR:
The weapon of the murderer - die Waffe des Mörders! die Logik des Psychiaters- the logic of the psychiatrist - crazy, but a nice genitive.

HARRY:
Annas Pistole ist ...

NARRATOR:
… die Waffe des Mörders! At least that's what your 'friend' Anderson says.

ANDERSON:

NARRATOR:
Es könnte sein! Es könnte sein! It could be that Anderson is nuts?

HARRY:

ANDERSON:
Nein, Anna sucht Freunde, aber findet keine.

NARRATOR:
Anna is looking for friends, but she can't find any?

ANDERSON:
Sie ist immer alleine.

NARRATOR:
She is always alone? What kind of psychobabble is this?

ANDERSON:
Wahrscheinlich ist Anna Helens Mörderin.

HARRY:
What? I cannot believe that!

ANDERSON:

NARRATOR:
He was taken in by Anna? You just make sure you're not taken in by him!

HARRY:
Dr. Anderson …

ANDERSON:

HARRY:
Baden? Swimming?

NARRATOR:
No, Harry, it sounds the same, but in this case Baden is another wine-growing area in southern Germany.

ANDERSON:
Haben Sie einen Riesling schon einmal probiert? Eine exzellente Traube.

NARRATOR:
Riesling is supposed to be an excellent grape variety? I always find it too acid.

HARRY:
Women don't know anything about good wine. Der Wein hat eine schöne Farbe!

ANDERSON:
Das Aroma des Weins ...

HARRY:
Entschuldigung, das Aroma?

ANDERSON:

NARRATOR:
The aroma of the wine - das Aroma des Weins, das Aroma der Traube - genitive.

HARRY:
Ah, ich bin ein Freund des Weins.

ANDERSON:
Ich habe einen Weinkeller. Wollen Sie den mal sehen?

HARRY:
Was ist ein Weinkeller?

ANDERSON:
Dort lagere ich meinen Wein.

HARRY:
Ah, a wine cellar, yeah.

ANDERSON:

HARRY:
Oh! Danke!

ANDERSON:
Hier, die Treppe runter. Gehen Sie vor! Gehen Sie ...

HARRY:
Okay.

ANDERSON:
... ich komme gleich nach.

IN THE CELLAR AT ANDERSON'S HOUSE

HARRY:
Oh, here we are. Wow! This is what I call a wine cellar! Weinkeller! Schau dir das an! How many bottles are there here?

NARRATOR:
Harry, I'm not very happy about this.

HARRY:
Oh don't worry! What should I take now? Oh, Dornfelder aus Rheinhessen? Grauburgunder aus Franken, Silvaner aus dem Ahrtal.

NARRATOR:
Oh Harry, be careful! Don't!

HARRY:
Mist!

NARRATOR:
Do you know how much a bottle like that costs?

HARRY:
How stupid of me!

NARRATOR:
Are you just going to push the pieces under the shelves?

HARRY:
Have you got a better idea?

NARRATOR:
Das kannst du nicht machen, Harry! Gosh!

HARRY:
Hang on. Hey, what's, what is this? There's something under the shelves! Clothes and a pistol!

NARRATOR:
Is that blood on the shirt?

ANDERSON:
Herr Walkott!

HARRY:
Dr. Anderson!

ANDERSON:
Herr Walkott!

HARRY:
Sie, Sie haben einen schönen Weinkeller.

ANDERSON:
Oh, ich weiß, Herr Walkott, ich weiß!
