To ask questions politely or make requests, you can also use the subjunctive forms of haben, werden or sein. Requests with these verbs can be questions or declarative sentences. When we are ordering in a restaurant, for example, we often use this formulation:

Ich hätte gern + something (accusative)

If you want to say, in a polite way, what you want to do, you can say:
Ich würde gern + verb

Polite requests with sein are often formed with the impersonal pronoun es and a subordinate clause with wenn:

Es wäre nett/schön/toll …, wenn …
